we closed the gap a little on the plugs, changed the advance curve on the distributor and advanced the timing a couple degrees.

I have not ran alcohol on the track but we have several boats running it and only run accell spark plugs as they tend to melt down when a lean condition occurs anstead of melting a piston.We have ran them for 18 years on our blown and unblown motors and have never lost a piston.They are like a early warning system, we always have a couple of spares incase we have a issue. When we have tore down the motors that have gone lean we have not found any scarring or issues.If you melt a plug (and you will know it) put in another plug ,fatten it up and keep a eye on it. Just my 2 cents.Good luck guys.
