what spark plugs are you using? What heat range? and what gap??? I'm having trouble getting my car running good at part throttle. It revs great, idles great, but at part throttle it misses and at WOT it hesitates.
I have a 358 chevy with fuelie heads and a 2 barrel carb. Carb was just rebuilt by Bob at Comp Carbs. New MSD distributor. Do I need a Magneto???
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

yeah. gonna be running in the sprint class. i don't know the compression ratio, I bought the car with the motor in it and i didn't tear it down this winter. The car was a basket case (although I obviously didn't know this when I bought it) and the rest of the car took all my money and time this winter. I can tell you that it has about 150lbs of compression. I'm not a motor guy but I think that is good

I beleive the prevous owner told me it was 12:1 compression. with only 150 lbs that cant be true. sounds like 10.5:1 meth likes alot of compression. I run autolight racing 132. I tried 133 but it leaned out at high rpm and would crap out. I put the 132 back in and our record speaks for it self. I also run about 230lbs comp. WHATEVER YOU DO DONT RUN A HOT PLUG! you'll burn it up quick. Set your timing for total advance at 3000 rpm of 30 deg. if you need any more help theres alot of smart eng people out there including slickracr. you can call me anytime at 775-246-2756, I want to see you at playday! sincerly, Wayne Walsh ;D

Methonal likes compression but I ran a run flat top motors and 76 cc heads and ran alcohol just fine. Every motor is different and u have to find what urs likes. I ran 36 total timing w 134 autolites and I won many races and no blown motors, that was many moons ago lol I got smart and went to gas lol any questions I will b there on sat. U goin to b there wayne?

it seems alot more mods are going to flat tops w/small cc combustion chamber, you can get good comp and have plenty of room so things dont touch! lol we will be there sat without the car, finishing motors! we're going to take a look ;D. see ya out there Shawn.

Sounds like a low fuel flow problem. Float level? Or a cracked cap. But you said it is new. Is the dist in 180 degrees off? Is the coil hot to the touch? Happy hunting.

Hey guys, Thanks for the input to help out my nephew. It is greatly appreciated. You guys are all a class act. This kind of comradery is what racing is all about. Not only does it help build the class, but it builds friendships as well! See you all on Sat. Sincerely, Troy White

I ran AR133 when I ran methonal and now I run AR134 and I'm running on E85 but I agree with thirtythreeare as I think you have a fuel flow issue check the filter log and the carb filters as well it does not take much to mess up the performance.
