I must say first that the track looked great last night.
We were told last night that the Rat Mod/Lovelock B Mods from 2012 are eligible to race with the IMCA No. Sport Mods and that the rules were posted for this about 1 1/2 wks ago. Since most of us Rat Mod/B Mod owners were told are cars were no longer a class, I know of at least 3 that have been disassembled and destroyed. Others are parked and the owners have moved on to other classes or just quit. Had I known about this change, I could have had two cars entered last night. Why did we just find out about it now? Where is the official agreement with IMCA to allow this?
The last word I heard was at the track meeting the day after the DTC where the President stated, "We will be going to IMCA Northern Sport Mod rules next year." That was the end of the discussion. Although there had been discussion earlier in the year about grandfathering in the Rat Mods for 3 years to run with the IMCA Spt Mods, this was not confirmed at that meeting. Further, when the rules were published for 2013, there were no rules for Rat Mods, only a link to the IMCA website for Northern Sport Mods.
As it is, for me, my B-mod is converted back to a four bar suspension and is for sale as a roller. I have purchased another car to race in California with the engine. My #99 Rat Mod is still together and raceable, but plans are to convert it to a vintage modified and race with vintage mods in Calif.
The lack of communication from the track management has caused a lot of confusion and disappointment to say nothing of some wasted race cars. What a shame.
My decision on whether to return to Rattlesnake to race in this class will take some consideration.
