ovalracefan has it just right. Payouts for those two classes are way different. If you kill off the lower classes you would kill off the new racers coming into racing which would end up killing the track. The racing to watch this year has been the hobby stock class. Sorry but the mods are kind of small and you always know who is going to win not much fun there and the sprints haven't been that exciting either. Yeah it sucks payouts are low but it is not just our track that has low car count in the area

hobbies have been the class to watch. Most excitement by far. Modifieds sprints and hobbies bring the fans is what I'm saying. I really don't care what payouts are as I am no longer racing in fallon, nor am I going back. I'd just rather not see the track die. Things need to change in a bad way there or I'm sure it will. This isn't the only problem. there was another thread about track prep(that turned out to be counter-productve)I was putting my .02 in also. I'm just putting suggestions out there.

rustback, kind of funny you say you don't want to see the track die but yet you don't want to race here or help support it. From what I noticed all you do is complain about what the track does and how bad you feel it is being ran. If you really didn't want to see the track die you would be helping the track. Many ways for you to do that. Just saying.

I am in the lower classes and we have more car count than allot of the so called better classes and we build cars just like every one else and race just like everyone else why would we not get payed just like everyone else. I know we are the red headed step kid of racing but we work our butts off just the same as you. If you want the track to get better get off your butt and help out with fixing stuff clean up track prep what ever it is that needs doing. One more thing at the last meeting I was at the track had money in the bank and we were doing good and were talking about getting transponders to make the track even better! So stop bitching and step up!

Yeah but rustback has volunteer, because he is a good electrician, but when Jerry and Chris needed him the most who didn't show up to help. So please keep your comments to yourself, I will continue paying every class and that is your chose if you do not want to race at our track we still have our dedicated racers and will have fun with our without you.

I don't know who you are, but you're an idiot. Everytime there has been a problem I have offered my services. You have NO idea what the hell your talking about. Jerry has my number. If he needed me, he'd call. 2nd, just because I'm not running at your track means nothing. You don't run the class I want to run. If you had that class AND had good track prep on a weekly basis AND weren't such hard headed assholes, then I wold love to come back. But, obviously I am unwelcome here and am unable to put my .02 in because you have it all handled and are smarter than everyone else. 3rd, if you can't take constructive critism, then you are in NO way helping out your track. You don't have to do everything I tell you too, but you can at least have the decency to listen without attacking people. Hope you have fun running cars off. Sincerely Aaron G

Well, I for one love to see all the cars race...I have family in the GenX class and the Hobby Stock class and I DO COME TO WATCH THEM RACE as well as race myself...but ovalracefan and rebelstraightliner are right, if you cut the payouts in the lower classes, they will STOP racing...

Acutally Aaron G, that was the Treasurer and she is right, we have heard that you offered to help but when people were up there wiring things up, where were you? We were up there all weekend and the only volunteers up there during the non racing hours were the Rineharts, the Wilsons, Jerry, the Lumsdens, Steve McGee, the Popes and a few security people...Hmmm, I don't see Aaron Gusten's name there anywhere...knowing it was a two day show, why didn't you call or ask on the board if there was anything that needed to be done?
Just my two cents...

First of all, the board has my number. I shouldn't be calling saying, hey, have anywork for me today. Second of all, I'm NOT A VOLUNTEER. Get that crap out of your heads. I'm sick of hearing it. I offer my services, but I never made ANY kind of commitment to volunteer at the track on a weekly basis. If I had, then I would understand all the hostility. Third, I have talked to Jerry. He has my number. If he needed help, I would expect him to call me. And last, but definetely not least, I live an hour from the track, and I've been working 300 miles away from the track. I don't understand why everytime anyone mentions any idea to try and help the track, they end up under attack from board members!!! Doesn't really sound like good business practice.
Now back to the conversation before all this bashing started. I may be wrong, I don't know. Take it and try it, or don't try it. I don't care. I feel it will help the track out, but if the board doesn't like it, then the board doesn't like it. I do believe everything goes through the board first right?

The upper classes are MUCH more expensive to maintain and run than Gen-X and the likes of the lower 'beginning' classes. RSR needs to figure out a way to be sustainable or lose cars?? Come on, get real. While payouts are nice they go alot further in a stock-type car because you can pull your parts from a salvage yard if you have to. Seriously, no disrespect, but if your purses were 'limited' and a token given for the top 4 would you do it then. My guess == NO. Everyone wants it ALL! Seriously people, take a look at the Federal Government right now. No give = No take. Let's just spin our little wheels and gripe all the way to NOWHERE.

Well Wayne, it was not the board that "allowed" you to run, any LARA member in good standing can run for the board, only LARA members in good standing that are Churchill residents can run for officers...
Secondly, some of the ideas that are suggested that I have heard have either been tried/attempted, worked/failed, or otherwise...an idea is only as good as the person/people behind it...so if new people are elected to the board and continue the same things or try different things, then only time will tell if the ideas are working or not...

I'm just a spectator at the track and know a few people that race up there so that is one of the main reasons why I go up there. I have told one of the racers that next year I plan on helping at the track and helping him in the pits, but the problem that I have with this right now is that there is so much bickering back and forth and now we have people who just whine so much that they aren't getting there way so they decide to just not race at RSR anymore. Thats fine, but the other problem is these same people keep writing on these boards whining instead of just going away and leaving RSR in their rear view mirror.
Also, the other problem I see as an outsider is that someone just wants to get on the board and push their ideas and if they don't get their way then their gonna be a child about it and try and walk away to.
I love going up to this track since I live in Fallon and I know someone in each class so that makes it much more fun to watch, but the more that people fight back and forth with each other all that does is make us as spectators just not want to deal with it anymore. I hope that everyone can put their differences aside for the better of the track and we can keep it going for a long time. Just my 2 cents and I hope that no one is offended by it.

I just about went off on that guy but reading what everyone has said I changed my mind. I feel sorry that he has not felt the rush of racing, instead his rush is with discontent and making people feel the same thing . I love volunteering and donating my metal cutting to the track like the 8 foot by 3 foot Rattlesnake Raceway that is up on the tower. Making the track better one small thing at a time makes my race team and me happy. If everyone that races just "volunteer" (with out pay) one weekend a year the track would just get better every year and its going to be around a long time.

Well, offering your help/services may be construed as volunteering...as alot of us have at one time or another. If you don't like being called a "volunteer" then what would you like us to call you? All of us that do take time out of our work schedule or family life are considered "volunteers" as we are providing help/services/knowledge without pay... isn't that what "volunteer" means...anyway, enough said.
